    Date format

Is there a way to lock the date format as MM/DD/YYYY. I'm using the excel file as data file but one of the softwares fails to run this excel-based data file due to date format since the date format has to be in numeric format.

1/12/2013 changes to 12-Jan while processing? Any suggestions to lock this format?

    Thanks!

    Re: Date format

The only way to change the format is either manually or with VBA...

    Do you want VBA?

    Re: Date format

    Thanks for the code!

Actually, my data is in CSV format. I can't save this macro and when I run it, and open the file again it goes back to 12-Jan format.

    Please suggest the solution!

    Re: Date format

Afraid I can't suggest a solution at this time because I really do not know the full requirements and what is going on.

    Your original post says...

date format has to be in numeric format
...but whether the date, 1/12/2013 or 12-Jan, Excel should recognize it as a date. Have you checked the cell to see if it is a date?

If you enter = Isnumber(A1) (A1 = the cell with 12-Jan), what does it return, TRUE or FALSE?

Do you have a sample workbook you can upload?
