    Data/Validation question

I want to use the Validation function under the Data menu to check a cell for a number range, a blank cell, or for one or more spaces. I have a formula to do the first two but not to check for one or more spaces. Can anyone suggest a solution? I'm running Excel for Mac 2011.
    Thanks,
    bidwin

If you want to test for all 3 conditions, please post everything you've already got working on your DV. Then we can try to squeeze in the missing part.

The blank condition is handled by checking the "ignore blank" box in the "Settings" area on the Data Validation window.
The number range, 0 to 24, is handled by "=AND(I8>=0, I8<25)."

    Re: Data/Validation question

    Just to clarify....
Regarding the Ignore Blanks setting on Data Validation.

If your list source is a Named Range (not just a range address) that contains blank cells...
    • Ignore Blanks: Checked
...Allows users to enter non-list items in the DV cell(s)

    • Ignore Blanks: UN-Checked
...Prevents non-list items from being entered.

    Also, I need a clarification...
Are you trying to only allow numbers between 0 and 25, inclusive, and blanks and spaces?
    Something else?

I'm not using a list - I'm using the "custom" option with a formula.

    Nope, just those three criteria.

I think I'll need a list of examples of that's "legal" and what's not.
