Is it possible to freeze both vertically and horizontally?

I am trying but failing to freeze panes both vertically and horizontally - is this possible?
i.e. I would like to have row 1 and column A always visible whilst scrolling down through rows 2 onwards and also whilst scrolling across through columns B onwards.
Can't work out how to do it - any help much apreciated! thanks.
