paste special for date value

The date example 9/26/2013 changes to 41543 because of paste special. I will have to then manually change it to short date again.

Is it possible to automate and then let the excel file take the short date format automatically when the data is pasted in the date column?

As well as doing Paste Special | Values you can also do Paste Special | Formats on the same selection.
