Formatting Issue

I am running a vlookup for a value "A1". It's returning an #N/A, but it's clearly in both lists. I have tried pasting as values, clearing all formatting... It does not give me an option to "Convert to Number", I've tried all different formats and cannot get it to work. Any help is much appreciated....this small little tedious task is driving me crazy!

Post an example file with this problem, or at least the formula that you are using and some examples of the data.

It has some Private Health Information in it so I cannot post the file, but I will try to take some screenshots.

Screenshots are no good to work with. You can post your formula here without compromising any confidentiality, and you can indicate to us what you are trying to lookup - is it numbers, dates, text values??

I used a trim formula to fix the formatting issue.Thank you for all the help!
