Retail Shop - sales and inventory spreadsheet / template

Guys I am having great difficuilty finding or making a spreadsheet for my small retail business.

my main problem is how to stock 1 item in several colours and sizes.

What I need is a master stocksheet linked to a master sales sheet and also a monthly and daily sales one.

I have downloaded various templates but what I cant handle is entering the same jacket as red in small - XXlarge then the same jacket in black in all sizes etc etc.

Is there a way I could enter the one jacket, a total of 50 pcs but also split that 50 into sizes and colours that when I come to complete the sales page I can break it down?

Hope this makes sense. Any ideas on where to find template etc greatly appreciated.

Hi elpopo

This may seem a stupid question, but why do you want a stock system? What do you want out of it?

If you want to do re-ordering from it, then unless your supplier will accept an order "30 Jackets, Model xxx but not sure what size or colour" then I think that you need to record all the different incoming items.

If you want to know how much stock has gone missing then a system could be devised to lump all of a particular model together.

If you want to put it on computer because it seems the right thing to do, then unless you are prepared to spend the time recording the deliveries, then I believe that you will be wasting your time. (You might be able to reduce this time if you could use a barcode reader?)

If you have other reasons for putting it on the computer, let us know and someone might be able to help.

Regards
Alastair

I am a small retail store. I want to know exactly how much of eaxh colour and size of jackwt I have remaining. I want to record all my deliveries this way
I dont really is understand what you are saying.

I am not ordering 1000pcs at a time. More like 50. And I can oder amall numbers of specific sizes ans colour. I also make an order perhaps twice a month.

Maybe we need to start this off with small steps?

What do you have so far, and what do you want it to do that it isnt?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Hi elpopo

You say

Unless you are prepared to spend the time when receiving goods detailing what you receive, you will not be able to achieve your aims, as you will only know that you have received 50 jackets, have sold 5 green medium ones, so you will have 45 of various colours and sizes remaining.

I believe that you will need to record each style/size/colour combination on separate lines in order to achieve what you are looking for (but I am open to seeing other solutions!)

Unless your vendor is a complete amateur operation, when your vendor sends 50 jackets, I'm sure each size and color will have a specific SKU number, and the Packing List will indicate such. For inventory tracking purposes, you would receive each SKU by quantity. Therefore, you will need to do multiple entries on your Purchase Order as well as receive each specific quantity by color and size (SKU or Item #). Besides, I'm pretty sure you dont send a P/O to your vendor requesting 50 jackets, then leaving it up to them to decide colors & sizes. Your P/O would state your order by quantity, size & color. So, receive accordingly.

Then you will be able to know how many of each size and color you actually have. Without doing that, all you will know is that you have 50 jackets of various sizes and colors. If you sold any, you would only know the remaining count of the jackets, rather than knowing the quantity of sizes and colors remaining.

There is no easy short-cut to your question that would give the result you want.
