Questions about file size & Embedded Images

I am trying to decide if it is better to embed images into comments as a JPG file or to insert a hyperlink for each image to keep the Excel file size smaller.

Overall I could have 1000+ different images as comments and maybe 20-40 more that are used numerous times throughout the sheet. All the images are around 5-20kb each. Assuming there are 1k image files that are 20k, will that make the file 20MB or is there some sort of compression that would keep the file size smaller?

I have not been able to try it with all the different images as they have not been re-sized or embedded as hyperlink yet. I did try it by duplicating 1 comment hat has an embedded image 1000 times but it did not affect the file size very much which I figured was due to it being just 1 image repeated 1000 times.

If you have any suggestions on how to do this efficiently. please let me know

I have the same issue here. I need to place about 1000 images on 1 sheet. How did you experience this? Is it a good idea or do you have a better solution for this?
