If changes made to spreadsheet, the changes are recorded along with all data

    Hi,

I had a question. I want to create a master spreadsheet. Lets say if another person uses that spreadsheet and makes some changes to the data, is it possible that the spreadsheet would clock in the time, name of the user and asks the user the reason why changes have been made. All of this data is logged into Excel so other users can see the reason for the changes. Is there an inbuilt feature in Excel which lets you do that because i essentially have no VBA Programming Knowledge?

Thank You so much for anyone who helps me with this

The "Track Changes" option on the Review tab will keep track of the user ID, date, time, and change (both new and old values) but does not require them to enter a reason.

And after changes are made to a sheet that is tracking ... if you select the Track Changes / Highlight Changes ... you can select the "List changes on a new sheet" checkbox - a new sheet will be temporally added. This sheet will disappear when you save your file but you can always re-create it OR copy & paste it somewhere. If you go with copy & paste ... a reason column can be added but it would have to be maintained separately.

Is there a way an option can be added that it does not let the user exit unless they write a comment about the changes?

    Thanks

I used the Track Changes Option and it works wonderfully. Thanks hard2figure

    But i have another Question

When i make a change, under Track Changes it gives me the name of my Company and not of my username. I want to make this worksheet accessible to multiple people, thus multiple people will be editing this worksheet. So is there a way the changes made should be by Username and not my company's name?

    Thanks
