    Undoing pivot tables

    Hi,

I'm an amazon seller. Amazon has a tab delimited file that we can download in order to view all the different fees that amazon charges for each sale. The problem is that it comes in pivot table and I want to put the information in columns. Having everything in columns should help me in uploading the information to accounting software such as quickbooks. I uploaded a sample to better explain what I need to do. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

The data in your workbook isn't in Pivot Table format. It is in proper data format of one column per field and one row per record. This is how a tab delimited file will import into Excel.

What are you actually wanting to do with this data as it appears to be in the format that you want and a format that QuickBooks should be able to handle?

You can USE a pivot table to translate the flat file data into the format you want. See attachment for an example of how you can lay it out, to match your required structure (although you listed column 'Principal' twice!)

Wow. Thanks. You guys are absolutely awesome. As I'm sure, you guys can tell, I'm not very good with excel at all and I'm still learning to be a business man to boot. I guess I had it all backwards. Runs off to learn on how to make pivot tables.

According to this site http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com...icles/HOW12247 QuickBooks will import Excel or Comma Separated Values (CSV) files. You can already import into Excel so you shouldn't have any problem importing that file into QuickBooks.

    Re: Undoing pivot tables

The problem I have with quickbooks at the moment is that the report in the example I uploaded is both a list of both income (sales) and expenses. From my very limited knowledge of quickbooks (just signed up 3 days ago) is that you have to separate them into one category or another. So my plan would be to organize the information via the pivot tables. Create two separate files and then upload them. And if that doesn't work, then just dump quickbooks and go back to my handy excel spreadsheet, this time with categorized expenses instead of the usual summary which is what I've been doing this past year.
