    Time Window

I am an old Excel user who hasn't had the time lately to maintain my skills, so I'm a bit rusty. I'm trying to build a SS to Evaluate new work and time rules for legality. What I need is a formula that will allow me to look back 168 hours from the time a work period begins. If that time is <168 hours, then the hours worked that day would be used in a sum calculation.

These work periods happen on an irregular basis. Any advice is appreciated.

Taking a guess at what you want:

(a workbook with representative data would certainly help)

If you are totalling time in a column formatted [h]:mm and need a warning if 168 hours has been reached, maybe something like this will help you. Enter the time allowed in J1 as 168:00 formatted [h]:mm The time values to be totalled are in column H formatted [h]:mm Enter this formula in column I and copy down.

    Formula: copy to clipboard

Ron, thanks for your help. I've got it sorted now. I ended up using he SUMIF function. It was perfect for this job.

    Cheers
