Protected Zoom Level for all sheets for all users

    Hello,

I've created a shared spreadsheet with multiple sheets. All the content was created to be visible without having to scroll at 87%. My question is can I protect or lock the zoom level so that when anyone else opens the spreadsheet, it will only be visible at 87%? I have my screen resolution at "Smallest" so not sure if that too will affect the viewing level.

    Thanks!

As far as I know you can't lock the zoom level. Also, different screens will give different views. Higher resolution means more visible pixels, and "smallest" doesn't really say much

I don't know what you are trying to accomplish, but saving the spreadsheet to a pdf format could be the way to go for you because pdf docs start at a zoomed out level by default.
Also, once you have saved it as pdf, you can edit settings like the one you are looking for much easier as they are native to pdf.

needless to say, once you have saved it as pdf there's no editing possible for your viewers of course... at least not in the default manner that is.

Thank you for your reply. The spreadsheet has about 30 different shared users. My zoom level is at 87% and all the data fits perfectlyat that zoom level. For instance, another user may have their zoom level at 100% so when they open the spreadsheet, the right side of the data is off the screen so they have to scroll over to see it. There are many hyperlinks so don't think .pdf will work unless there
    is something I don't know?

    Thanks again for your reply.

Hyperlinks work fine in pdf. The advantage is that you can set the default zoom level for your document in pdf, but I'm not sure if you can do that if you have with only a viewer installed.

I think that if you save your excel to pdf the links will continue to work fine, and the view is by default 43% and displays the entire page. The user then has to zoom in of course, but they will definitely know there's data out of view if they do that.

Why don't you try for yourself and see if the outcome is any better? I believe it's native now to save as pdf depending on your version of office of course. I've got 2013, but also have adobe acrobat installed which could make things a little easier for me to say than for you to do because I'm not sure how much difference that makes.

If you upload your file I'm more than happy to convert it for you so you can see if it's what you need, although it wouldn't be a long term solution in case you need to do more conversions in the future.

or as an option you need to do some tests with some screen resolutions and set a specific zoom when the wkb is open.

VBA cannot be used in shared workbooks.

If you make a right-click on zoom area, you can deselect Zoom and Zoom Slider.
