Conditional Formatting if cell value is not blank

    Hi everyone,

I need a hand with conditional formatting if possible?

In the attached document i need the cell fill for the cells containing values (in column C) to change if data on sheet 2 is anything other than blank.

e.g. Sheet 1 C3 would be green fill and C4 would be no fill as Sheet 2 B3 contains a date and B4 does not

    Any ideas?

Re: Conditional Formatting if cell value is not blank

hi t.regi. assuming these are typos
    Sheet 2 B3 does not contain a date - it's Sheet2 C2 that does

so i suppose i should cut the data & make it aligned with Sheet 1 like this?
    Data Range
    B
    C
    3
    Test
    1/1/2014
    4
    Test

in Excel 2010 & above, you can do this straight away. select the range you want to apply to (say Sheet1 from C3:C10)
go to Home -> Conditional Formatting -> New Rule -> Use a formula to determine which cells to format -> Format values where this formula is true:
    =Sheet2!C3<>""

Thanks, if you have clicked on the * and added our rep.
