unwanted "s in copied excel data when pasted as text

I have set up an excel file that helps put together different text components using concatenate() and text() etc. to paste into a text only email.

When I try to paste the finished result into notepad/textpad/word/gmail it adds extra " marks around every text line that contains a tab character (which I inserted using char(9)). Does anyone know how to paste my text without these marks appearing? I have already tried using substitute() but this command does not find them - they appear to be artifices created by the copy/paste operation.
