Locking or Fixing the Format of columns

    Dear all once more,

This time I am writing to ask about cell formating:

I would like, in my excel sheet, to have COLUMN C, D and E as text no matter whether I insert rows or I past cells form another doc etc..

Is there liek a magic option to fix that, maybe under a password?

Thank you so much for your help!

    A.

    Highlight columns C D E

Then use in Custom Validation this formula.

    Formula: copy to clipboard

From where you are getting the data?

What is the reason for trying to keep the data in text?

May be try paste special>>Paste As text if the data is coming from other source

Re: Locking or Fixing the Format of columns

    Dear Fotis,

Thank you very much I will definitely try that though, does not it work ONLY for cell C1???

    Dear Sixthsense,

I am trying to make the process of copying data from a source and inserting it in the top part of a older bunch of data the simpllest as fasters as posible for the person in charge.
After the insertion of rows The responsible will have to run a macro that requires of the column C, D and E to be in text form.
I have unfortunately found out that, when you inset rows with certain data in the spreadsheet it changes to mode "General" therefore, before you run the macro you must
Transform it to text (selecting columns C, D and E) and then run the macro.

I would like those columns to remain text for ever and ever no matter what I insert and in which format

Hope I made myself clear now

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
