    Excel reports on Mac issue

    Hello everyone,

    Nice to meet you!

I am quite new with excel so though I could get some help. Whenever I'm pulling reports on Mac I always get this error where all my data is on the "A" column (please find example attached). If I pull exact same report on Windows, all the data is in separate columns A, B, C and etc., which is how it should be. Could anyone please help me with a fix for that?

    Thank a lot!

    Regards to everyone

    Anyone has an idea?

Also, let me know if I posted this is a wrong forum. Maybe excel chats and pivots would help me?

My first guess is that your system "CSV delimiter" option is different between the two computers. I don't know how to check this on Macs -- in Windows, it is something like "list separator" in "region and language" settings.

How are you opening the file? You might try renaming the file with a .txt extenstion, which should prompt Excel to bring up the text import wizard on opening. When it opens into one column, you should be able to execute a "text to columns" command to parse the data into columns using a comma as delimiter.

Re: Excel reports on Mac issue

I suspect it isn't an error, as such. When I open your csv file on my Windows PC, it splits the data across the columns as you obviously want it. On checking the parameters for Text to Columns, the default delimiter is a Tab.

So, I'm guessing that it's something as simple as setting a default for your Excel configuration. However, I know nothing about Macs so I can't really offer advice there.

Having got the data into Excel, all in one column, have you tried using Text to Columns with a Tab as the delimiter? Might be worth a go.

Re: Excel reports on Mac issue

After a couple of days trying and reading other forums, I've got the solution:

    1) Systems Preferences-> Language & Region-> Advanced
    2) Select General
    3) For both Grouping fields select comma (,) and for Decimal dot (.)
    4) Save and restart Excel.

    Now everything works just fine

    Thanks for help everyone!
