    Freeze Panes Not Working

Freeze Panes isn't working. Just trying to freeze the first column. I go to view, freeze panes, click freeze first column. It shows the broader line between A and B, which normally indicates the frozen pane, but then A scrolls like normal. Any ideas?

When you freeze the first column, it freezes it from left to right/right to left, not up and down.

If you want to freeze column A at a particular row then choose Freeze Top Row instead

Will that not freeze the entire row?

Yes. But by your question it sounds like you want to be able to scroll one column of rows but keep the rows in other columns fixed. If that is what you are enquiring about then you can't.

You might like to consider opening a second window to the same sheet however.

    @ FDibbins (http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...scrolling.html)
Willem, that still scroll up when you scroll?
If you scroll down and everytime you click in a cell you see cells A1:A25 in the picture
