Question Possible to share a link to all my recent forum posts?

    Hi,

Sorry this is not an Excel question but I couldn't find anywhere else to post this.

I'm trying to find a away to send a link to an acquaintance which will show all the threads I have started since joining this site. Could anyone please tell me if they click the following link if you can see all the threads I've started? I want to make sure that the link is not just restricted to my own viewing:

    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php?searchid=6411965

    Thanks in advance,
    Michelle

    Hi Michelle ( michellepace )
Nories works for me, Yours does not - Nories gets the link to all your started Theads
    You get the Link by
    Click on your name
    Hit View profile
    Hit View Started Threads
    You should get this
    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php?searchid=6412211
You can get all your posts either by that way or by just hitting on your name and selecting View latest Posts rather than View profile
    This is that link
    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php?searchid=6412263

Note people will have to be logged in to access this sort of thing )

Re: Possible to share a link to all my recent forum posts?

Hi Alan and Norie. Actually... whilst the links above each worked when I clicked on them, now that I try again - - none of them return my forum posts. Somehow I think the links must be unique to the instance of search performed (represented by "searchid=" in each of the links)... and seems to expire after a while.

Which basically in a much simpler way means: the links don't work anymore

I tried using my "member id" which a deduct must be "968923" from this url http://www.excelforum.com/members/968923.html . No luck there either.

    Michelle

I've just checked a couple of those links and as far as I can tell they link to threads you started.

Were you logged in to the forum when you tried the links?

Interesting – mine do not work for me anymore either do not work for me any more either. But Nories does:

This was mine for your started threads

    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php?searchid=6412211

This was mine for all your posts

    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php?searchid=6412263

They do not work just now

This is Nories That takes me to all your started Threads

    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php?do=finduser&userid=968923&starteronly=1&contenttype=vBForum_Thread

That from Norie is still working for me.

I do not know how he got that, ?? but clearly it looks more like a link to you and your stuf specifically. Mine looks more like a search which as you suggest possibly “expires somehow?? ( something to do with a Token expiring or so I have heard ?? ) )
Maybe try Nories again – it looks like it should work –
I do note that Nories turns into a different different URL once you have it in your URL window and hit GO – just now I have got this for it, which currently works but may well “expire” later

    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php?searchid=6417869

By the way – none of the links I just gave will work if you click on them – I disabled the hyperlink to show the full URL – you need to copy them to your Browser URL Window to try them

I would be interested to know

Q1 Where did you find your user ID Number

Q2 @ Norie How did you find that link ? – Can you do a similar one to get at a User’s Posts rather than Started Threads?

    Alan

In the top right hand corner of this screen you will see "Welcome, Doc.AElstein". Click on "Doc.AElstein". The url that you get directed to will have your Member ID in it.

Thanks again Dorie for your link, yours is the only one which works for me.

I went to the user profile, right clicked on Find latest started threads and selecting copy link text.

Ahh that’s the trick – right click and copy link. – if you hit the link, then the it goes to the “later expiring” search URL, just as using the link you gave , results in a the “later expiring” search URL

    Good tip to know.

    Testies:-

_1) Hit on my name in left hand margin
    Hit View Profile
Right Click on Find latest started threads and select copy link URL

    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php...vBForum_Thread
    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php?do=finduser&userid=767494&starteronly=1&contenttype=vBForum_Thread

_2) Hit on my name in left hand margin
    Hit View Profile
Right Click on Find latest posts and select copy link URL

    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php...st&showposts=1
    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php?do=finduser&userid=767494&contenttype=vBForum_Post&showposts=1

Those two links work ( when you use them they change to a “later expiring” search URL in the Browser URL Address Window, but never mind )

    Got it
    Alan

    EDIT P.S.
@ Michelle- If the Thread is solved for you, please mark it as such, thanks. ( you need too be logged in to do that )

I tried posting an example URL for Find latest threads started and kept on being hit by the Sicuri(?) firewall, how did you manage it?

Re: Possible to share a link to all my recent forum posts?

    Hi Norie.
That Sucurri thing is a bit unpredictable. It often comes up when I try to do things. You probably know already that it does not like certain text combinations ....

    _................

    Anyway...
Here I try to again get a Link to your latest posts ( Which at ExcelForum is , I believe, in actual fact, all your posts ever ) ( basically I am just doing your suggested method

_1) Hit your name and select View Profile
    NorieProfile.JPG
    http://imgur.com/9KFhi1p

_2) Right Click on Find latest posts
    And
    Select Copy URL
    NorieFindLatestPostsRightClickCopyURL.jpg
    http://imgur.com/rtRgSNQ

    I get then this
    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php...st&showposts=1
    http://www.excelforum.com/search.php?do=finduser&userid=19362&contenttype=vBForum_Post&showposts=1

Those links are still working for me – I see this:
    NorieLatest.JPG
    http://imgur.com/cJHCbSy
( Note the link in the Browser URL window changes to a search link ( that we have learnt here “expires ) )

    Alan

P.s.1 Note Sucurri was playing up a lot ( as usual ) today...

p.s.2 This is how I type those URL’s in the Post Editor – I have got in the habit of using BB URL Code tags rather than relying on the editor to do that as I have found that the editor sometimes does not convert a URL string to a Hyperlink. – if you add the URL BB Code tags yourself then the hyperlink is always added I find. ( The noparse BB Code Tags disable the hyperlink ( as well as all other BB Code Tags ) )
