    Special pasting question.

    Ok here is my situation:
    Let's say I have cells A1, A10 and A20 and in them I've got content such as;
    In A1, Bill
    In A10, Susan
    In A20, Tom.
    Let's say this is in sheet A.

    And I have another sheet, sheet B, in which I also have Bill, Susan and Tom, but they are distributed consecutively, say, in B1,B2,B3.
    Next to B1,B2,B3 in C1,C2,C3 I have, let's say, their ages. For example 31,33,40.
    Now if I selected both groups (B1,B2,B3, and C1,C2,C3) and pasted it back to sheet A, anywhere inside it, is it possible that after pasting the "process" or a macro finds their names in A1,A10,A20,and distributes their ages accordingly next to them, to B1,B10,B20?
    And how?
    Basically if content of the pasted cell is equal to the content of another cell, the contents of the cell next to them will also be pasted/mirrored there.
    Thanks

    Hi vdamir and welcome to the forum,

    I believe you are looking to use the VLookup() function to get those ages next to names on Sheet A from Sheet B. It isn't a pasting problem, it is using VLookup() that will solve this. Do some searching for VLookup() and make the last arguoment False.
    One test is worth a thousand opinions.

    Do you know how to do this? I am really uneducated in any advanced excel routines.

    OK Vdamir,

    Find the attached workbook with what I think you have and what you want.
    Vlookup for Vdamir.xlsx
