Footers that continue from one worksheet to another worksheet.

    Hello,

I have a question about footers. Specifically page #'s. I have a large workbook that has about 15 worksheets (30+ total pages) that I will need to be able to print. I would like to create a table of contents to make it easier to look through the hard copy. The problem that I have is this, each worksheet starts over at one. Is there any way to make them continuous from worksheet to worksheet? Placing all the printed pages on worksheet is not a good option since column widths aren't uniform throughout the workbook and I would prefer to stay away from merging cells since it makes it more difficult to edit later.

If anyone can let me know whether it is, or is not possible, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Assuming all your sheet tabs are arranged in the correct sequence along the bottom of the Excel window, then you can select the first one, then hold the SHIFT key down and then click on the tab of the last sheet and then release SHIFT - this will have grouped those sheets together and any page numbers defined within a sheet will carry on from earlier sheets and into later sheets. It is better to do Print Preview so that you can see what will happen when you print them out - only one print command and all the grouped sheets will be printed.

Be careful, though - if you make any change to a sheet, it will be reflected in all the other grouped sheets. Remember, also, to Ungroup the sheets when you have finished - just right-click on a sheet tab and select Ungroup sheets.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Pete!

I already tried this once. But then when I looked at the worksheets individually, they all started over from one...once I saw the print preview I saw it was correct. I never would've thought to check that...Thanks
