Red face Multiple level passwords for ss

    Hi
I don't know much about macros, and I was reading and reading, and not getting far.
So if I can get some help it would be great.
I have ss with arround 50 tabs. I have them all protected in regular way, so if someone else opens they can only edit unlocked cells. I have macro doing this with one password, so when I need to make changes I just unprotect all and when I am done protect back.
But now that is not enough, and that is where my problem starts.
Is it possible to have one sheet where I will have all users listed and their passwords and sheets they can edit, with option for someone to have acces to multiple sheets. But also leaving me with main password for all to be able to adjust formulas ect.
So when someone opens workbook it prompts them for password, and when they enter password they can only edit unlocked cells in sheet they are assigned to.
    I am going crazy.
I tried many things and it is always something wrong or I don't know how to apply it properly.
I need detail instructions, because I have to repeat this for different departments.
    Thank you in advance

    This is quite possible.

I've made a few variations of the file PasswordHiddenSheets2-MoreSheetsPerPassword.xls located at site below.

    https://sites.google.com/a/madrocket...xcelassistant/

The workbook allows a single page to be set with user names and passwords. Each user can only see and edit their own sheet, with admin having access to see all.

You could take it a step further and protect each sheet as well, so prevent them from changing those cells.

That is what I need to be able to prevent them also from changing cells. I just get to problem where I use macro and try to change it, and mess up everything. I am so new in this, that my head hurts trying to grasp it so fast.
I will try this link. Any other suggestions are more than welcome.

I tried this, but I also need option for one user to open multiple tabs. That is not working with this, macro.
Why when I clik on VBA to see macro, I can not see column where it shows VBA project. It is fine from my home comp., but not at work.
Also when I used this macro it works on empty sheet, but not on my ss, ...

    Hmm.

We can't do much without examples. Here's a sample I made for a user a while back.

Hi thank you for response, but I still have same issue, I don't know how to create front sheet, I mean I have front sheet tab but I only copy it from is your file, and then it does same thing - when I press password button it opens file from which I copied front sheet. How should I go around it. I have tab with my passwords and users and it is working great but if I delete your ss of my computer it is blocked.
Can you explain it to me how to add front sheet that will be working for my ss.
    Please.

It's all in the VB programming.

To visit the VB Editor hit Alt+F11. There's a code on the Front sheet, and two subs in Module 1.
