deduplication of cells in a column

I have 32,000 rows of data and in one column (AR), I am needing to remove duplicate text values.

    Example:
    AR
    organization,organization,vendor,director

    vendor,vendor,director,contractor

I only need one "organization" and to remove the extra one. I am told I need a macro to accomplish this, but will admit that I have never used macros so any elementary help is much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Under the DATA tab at the top find REMOVE DUPLICATES button and follow the prompts. Does that help?

Unfortunately, no. This removes the rows that are duplicates of other rows. I am looking for a way to rid the duplicate values within each cell of a column. The data in each cell is the result of a merge and I cannot upload the data without removing duplicate values in each cell.

    A
    1 organizational, organizational, vendor
    2 vendor, organizational vendor

In A1, I need to remove (1) "organizational" and in A2, I need to remove the duplicate "vendor."

    Thanks for the suggestion though!

Okay. I understand what you mean now. I presume your data has a header row. Can you give me a excel spreadsheet as an example? I have created a macro but I want to be sure I have worked out the kinks and also I want to see how fast it will run as well. There may be a better way to write this macro however due to my knowledge of trail by error learning I may not have the best macro for you but I most likely will have one that will work.

Well I haven't heard back from you so I will post what i have and see what you think. If something doesn't work out please post up an example excel spreadsheet and I can fix it from there. Try this.

Did either one of the macros work for you?
