Post Automate the Build of a Design Matrix in MS Excel

A typical Design Matrix is shown in the attached Workbook. There are two domains of Merged Cells that make up the Headings of the Matrix; FRs (Functional Requirements) and DPs (Design Parameters). Given a Hierarchical List of FRs specified by the User, the User would like Excel to bulild the Matrix Hierarchy of FRs automatically (going down the Worksheet). The DP Hierarchy is the same hierarchy, except transposed and reflected across the Worksheet. The attached Workbook has up to seven (7) levels, but the ability to go create up to 10 levels is desired.

I am just curious how will the user receive the data for this ? Because this sheet is the desired output correct? This is a good one I think lol

The Hierarchical List comes from another program, which unfortunately cannot create this Sheet. You are correct, this Sheet is an example of the desired output. The output will change depending on the number of Levels in the Hiearchy and number of FRs (and of course DPs).

I hope this helps- Thank you for your interest

Yes but how does it come from the other program ? As a workbook, as a list, as a text with spaces. Are you planning on pasting it to the sheet ? is it a file?

    Thanks

The attached Workbook is the output from the other program.

DP0 is not handled consistently with everything else. Why is it not the leftmost leaf node, aligned vertically and spanning all 11 rows?

Thank you for your reply. Perhaps I do not understand your question. DP0 is a Merged Cell of 43 Columns. DP0 corresponds to FR0, which is a Merged Cell of 43 Rows. Everything looks correct to me.

Everything below DP1 is DP1.something. Everything below DP1.1 is DP1.1.something. DP0 is the exception.

Now I understand your question, it is an exception, as is FR0. FR0 and DP0 are the overall headings of their respective Domains. Think of them simply as Headings that span their entire Domains.
