    Count Special Situation

    Hello
    I have an attachment..
    In Range A2:AE2 there are symbols ..
    I want to count the cells before and after the symbol "X"
    The result in the attachment should be = 7 in AF2

    I tried your formula
    But when change the combination I got incorrect results
    see the attachment the result should be 6 not 7

    By my reckoning, 7 is correct. If you have x y x, then the y would be counted twice.

    That was the rule you specified.

    We will consider this status (x y x) to be counted one as it is one cell not two cells
