enter number in cell, website is searched.

I want to enter a number into a cell, press enter, and have that number searched for on Amazon.com automatically. Is this possible in Excel? Would searching 2 sites be possible?
Some background: I am a bookseller, and I have a homemade spreadsheet I use to upload my books with condition, price, etc. to Amazon. During this process, I need to research the book on Amazon.com (and often a couple other sites) to decide on price, and choose a listing to list on etc. If I could simply scan the book barcode and have the website searched at the same time, it would save me time, as I list hundreds of books.

I will pay for an answer to this if needed. Like $10 or something? I dont know what the going rate is.

    Thanks!

    David

    Hello david meyer,

    Welcome to the Forum!

It is possible to do this. The big question is how many ISBNs will you be searching for? If it is only a small amount, say 20 or less, you won't be waiting long for the macro to finish. However, it is more like 200 then it may take a while to finish.

You don't mention exactly what information you want to extract nor where it will be copied to on the worksheet. If you have a sample worksheet you can post, it would be a great help.

    How To Post Your Workbook
    1. At the bottom right of the Reply window, Click the button Go Advanced
    2. At the top of the Your Message Window, in the first row of icons, Click the Paperclip icon.
    3. Click the Add Files button at the top right in the dialog box. This displays the File Manager dialog.
    4. Click the Select Files button at the bottom middle of the dialog.
    5. In the new window Find the file you want to upload, select it, and Click Open.
    6. You will now be back in the File Manager dialog. Click the bottom Middle button Upload File.
    7. Wait until the file has completely uploaded before you exit the File Manager dialog.
    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

Re: enter number in cell, website is searched.

When I click "go advanced" my browser just spins. I will try to upload my workbook later.

I will try to clarify what I am trying to do. Amazon has a Excel spreadsheet that sellers (me) can use to upload their products for sale. We enter a bunch of info into the sheet like ISBN, price, condition, an SKU, etc, then we click a macro in the sheet to upload the info. I have modified the sheet to automatically populate certain values. For instance, my sheet detects if the product-id is an ISBN or something else, and can automatically enter the product id type. also my SKU is automatically generated based other cells in the workbook.
The only thing I cannot do in the workbook is the price research. I need to look at the Amazon website for that. I look at the current prices for a book and decide what I should price my book for. Then I enter that price in the worksheet. So I dont want to pull any data from the site into my worksheet, I just need to look at the search results on the website with my eyeballs. What I would like to happen is that the webpage is automatically searched when I enter the ISBN into the workbook. I just want it to use the same number I enter into the sheet to search Amazon.com so that I dont have to enter it again into the website. There are a couple other sites I use for research that would be nice to auto search as well.
What I do now is copy and paste the ISBN from the worksheet to the search bar on Amazon (or whatever site I want to research). Which after you do a hundred times gets old. (I do do hundreds of books at a time, but I research price on each one individually.)
