ActivX Controls working on my laptop but same not working on other same configured laptop

I resorted to taking the proverbial sledgehammer to crack this nut and simply deleted the contents of the Temp folder ... which worked on a 2007 machine and a 2010 machine. Touch wood, no issues so far and the ActiveX controls are, well, active again.

@EamonJMV: no, that's fair comment. But I'm not sure what value you feel you have added. The thread that I referred to included an answer from Ron Coderre. That answer also had the link to which you refer in your post..

The phrase "I'm looking for a solution too" seems to imply that you haven't found one. How would you expect anyone to respond to that?

The link describes a process that did not work for me and, apparently quite a few others. I explained what I did ... which did work for me and others have confirmed worked for them.

No problem. I understand how you feel. As I said, the solution mentioned did not work for me though others have clearly found that it worked for them. My approach was a bit more heavy handed but, on the basis that it is a Temp directory, I deleted everything that I could that was in it. Probably more than necessary but it doesn't appear to have caused any problems. Touch wood.

There is still a know issue, as far as I am aware, about the default numbering of newly created controls. I do not have a workaround for that.

Note: when I deleted the contents of the Temp directory, I allowed it to go to the Recycle bin. More often than not, I permanently delete temp files, but I thought this warranted caution.
