Question Excel saving to 2003 problem.

    Hi there.

I have a 2013 xlsm sheet to manage my stickers collections, but when i save as to "excel 2003" xls to my colleges use it for themselves it disables all macro buttons (activex), and they get transformed into a image (it seems)

I can create new buttons (in 2003) and seem to be working, but the old ones that come from 2013 stay disabled.

I could just make the 20-30 new buttons copy all code to them but i am always reviewing my xlsm with new features and bug corrections. So this is not practical.

i got default security settings on my 2013 and this doesn't seem to be the problem origin.

i googled a lot for this but ppl just say to disable the design mode...DHU....

anyone got any tips how can i fix this issue?

    tyvm

See if this works for you:

From other forums, I have learned that it is due to the MS Update and that a good fix is to simply delete the file MSForms.exd from any Temp subfolder in the user's profile. For instance:

    C:\Users\[user.name]\AppData\Local\Temp\Excel8.0\MSForms.exd

    C:\Users\[user.name]\AppData\Local\Temp\VBE\MSForms.exd

    C:\Users\[user.name]\AppData\Local\Temp\Word8.0\MSForms.exd

Of course the application (Excel, Word...) must be closed in order to delete this file.

Re: Excel saving to 2003 problem.

nop, didn't work. i deleted all instances of that file in both computers. i tried all combos. none worked.
tried open xlsm and convert (via save as) to 2003, i tried to open the already broken 2003 xls (without the .exd files) and opening on the other comp with 2003 still gets activex buttons get blocked/broken.

what can i do? why saving to 2003 doesn't allow to open in excel 2003?!

when i convert i get this warning:

"Some cells or styles in this workbook contain formatting that is not supported by the selected file format. These formats will be converted to the closest format available. 66 Excel 97-2003"

but i always got this warning (i think) and from a few months ago to now i started to get this issue.

i would be a very very happy person if i found an fix for this.

    TY, JH
