    Question Extracting Data from Coloured Cells

    Hey guys!

    Hoping someone can help!

    I'm looking to extract data into an existing worksheet (let's say sheet1 for example), from another worksheet called "Docs for update".
    Basically, the "Docs for update" tab is a repository of all documents. The cells I'm working from would be in Column B & C (column B contains document name; column C contains the associated doc number)

    The macro/similar would return all document names and numbers that are within coloured cells (red fill) in a list on sheet1. (As long as the list contains no spaces between the lines, I'd be happy!)

    names and numbers coloured red on "Docs for update" would go into Column B Sheet1? Font red?

    Hi,

    might need just a little bit of adjusting to your needs. Macro looks for red cell fill (not sure if that is what you wanted). You also need to provide your destination workbook name and sheet name. By default the first matching record will be copied to the first row in your destination workbook.

    Sorry, just updated. Should have specified that the cells are filled red with conditional formatting.

    Thanks for the quick reply. I'm getting an overflow error at the For i = 2 To Range("B1").End(xlDown).Row part though. Any ideas why that's happening?

    I don't think the solution offered will work for cells colored by conditional format.

    @ JOHN H. DAVIS - you're right, it does not work for conditionally formatted cells

    @ darrenfiend - can you upload a workbook with some sample entries? Will be easier to get that error fixed and find a different solution for detecting the cells you want to be copied.
