Match non-exact text and manipulate data to different rows and columns

Hi guys,

Long time browser first time poster.

Basically the webpage in A2 “get-your-application”, A3 “get-your-application?emailref” and A5 “get-your-application?mnote", are all the same webpage just tagged with “?emailref” or “?mnote” to indicate how the user accessed the site (went direct, clicked a link in an newsletter or clicked a link in an email).

What I would like to do, and I’m not sure if it’s possible, is write a macro that will:

1) Find ?emailref and move the data to column D, Find ?mnote and move the data to column E.

2) Merge any common lines that only differ based on the tag at the end, into one line, so that the data for each page is consolidated into one line with the methods of access in the columns.

I hope this makes sense and is in the right place, I’m not sure if it’s possible. Any assistance or guidance you can provide would be great as I’m stumped! Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply mate. It's very close but not quite there. If possible I'd like the figure in c3 to appear in K2, then c5 to appear in L2 and then I2=Sum(J2:JL2) etc.

Thank you! It works a treat in the sample. Is there a particular trick for when I copy and past into another workbook to run against the real data? I get a mismatch error?

Or could you please advise the cause of the error and I'll have a closer look at the debugging?

If you are talking about different file that I can't see.... no idea.

It says Type mismatch, so could be data itself or something else.

Thanks for your help, I didn't realise the headers of columns were different in the sample compared the the real source of the data. I fixed it up and it works great. Thanks for your help!
