Opening Excel as COM object won't open Personal macros

    Hi everyone!

I'm exporting data from a program which opens Excel as a COM object(which I don't have any experience with). I don't know why but i can't use my personal.xls while Excel is in that state so I have to copy paste the data in to a new worksheet. Is there any way around this?

    Thanks!

Feel free to move this post to the general Excel forum instead, sorry for any inconvenience. Would still appreciate a solution though!

I think the other program annexes the currently running instance of Excel, instead of instantiating a new one (something to do with calling getobject vs createobject I think). Nasty behaviour.

Try launching your workbook after that program starts, although this won't help if the other program repeatedly does this after you've started up.

It opens up Excel in that state everyone time i'm exporting data. This isn't really a major problem because I can just copy paste it in to a regular Worksheet as you said. But it's a shame that I can't use my global macros without doing that extra "step". Thanks for the reply though!
