So I scoured around on here and didn't seem to find something similar(correct me if I'm wrong). I'm interested in automating wiring diagrams we create in Visio. I imagine having all of our electronic devices off the the side(not in print view) as well as an excel table that is used to create the diagram. The electronic devices have "wire tags"(maybe visio text box?) which would relate to cells in the excel table on the visio drawing. I'd have a cell in the excel table that is drop down to the different electronic devices and is pasted automatically via VBA/Macro on the drawing based on the part no. The tricky part I see is that not every wire is connected for every design so the macro would have to paste each wire tag separately to each terminal based on whether it sees a value in a particular cell and paste it with the value in the cell in the proper place. I'm wondering if this is possible and if anyone has seen this been done where I can check out an example? Is this integration between excel and visio possible? Any hints or tips would really help as I'm looking for a way to automate this tedious task of labeling each wire and pasting new devices for each drawing.
