Conditional Formatting and Checkboxes are lagging spreadsheet

I recently added around 475 checkboxes to my spreadsheet and added some conditional formatting to highlight cells based on the checks. Problem it is very slow! I have attached the spreadsheet. Is there a way to speed things up??

    Hi there,

The Conditional Formatting associated with the following formula:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
is slowing things down a lot!

First of all, the formula will always return a #VALUE! error because the SEARCH function searches within a text string, not within a range.

Secondly, even if the function did operate the way you would like it to, it's difficult for me to understand what you're trying to achieve?

So, deleting this condition from your Conditional Formatting parameters will definitely speed things up. If something else needs to be put in it place, let me know and I'll see if I can suggest anything.

Hope this helps - please let me know how you get on.

    Regards,

    Greg M

Hi - Yes, since the list is a large list and is filled in with s sentence or two... - people need to be able to search through that list to find what they are looking for quicker, through key words.

    Hi again,

Have I understood correctly? You want to insert keywords in the SearchBox cell, locate the record(s) involved, and then highlight the record(s) located?

I'm taking the rest of St Patrick's Day off here in Dublin, so I won't be able to come back to you immediately!

    Regards,

    Greg M

Re: Conditional Formatting and Checkboxes are lagging spreadsheet

    Hi again,

Take a look at the attached version of your workbook and see if it does what you need.

I've added a series of formulas in Column X, and adjusted the Conditional Formatting parameters - this seems to have speeded things up a bit.

I've also tweaked the code in the worksheet VBA CodeModule to make it a bit more efficient.

Hope this helps - please let me know how you get on.

    Regards,
