Find latest date from variable range

Hi

I have a range of reference numbers with corresponding dates which change continually. I need to find the latest date against each individual reference number, ie:

200.1 30 Sep 16
200.1 26 Jan 16
200.1 26 Jan 16

Should return 30 Sep 16 for reference 200.1.

I have the below code which gets stuck at the indicated line, I previously got this to work but it did not pick out the latest date, just a random date from each reference number, in the case of the above it was the first occurence of 26 Jan 16. I think this was a problem with the MAX function looking up against the reference number instead of the date.

Any help would be much appreciated!
