Question Drop down list with links to cells

Hi all, first post so please be gentle...

I have a list of 36 users and some data for each user all on one sheet (UserData). I was hoping to add each name into a drop down list so when I select a user it scrolls/jumps to that users data.

Was hoping to add the list as a drop down from a frozen toolbar so others can quickly go between user data. Think with the ComboBox, correct me if I'm wrong, it autocompletes if you start typing the name??

Also, the list of users comes from another sheet named 'UserNames'.

    Hope that makes sense.

Any help and stages of the process appreciated as I'm fairly new to using Excel.

I have found similar posts but to be honest they go over my head a bit.

    Ta.

Have you considered using a table? That way you can filter by (in the case of my sample) Name, Emp #, Time In, and/or Time Out. Just click the dropdown in the header, uncheck Select All, then click the name you want to view.

You don't have to add Rep if I have helped you out (but it would be nice), but please mark the thread as SOLVED if your issue is resolved.

    Thanks for the fast reply.

My initial idea was to use something like a table but trying to make it all a bit slicker and learn more about macros and VB at the same time.

    Appreciate the guidance though.

You're welcome for the fast reply. Sorry it's not what you were looking for. if you are wanting this to be written with code, the response time may take a bit longer as it will take a while for someone to write the code and debug it.

Hi Rasputin 1, welcome to Excel Forum. If you attach a sample workbook (NOT a picture) to your post, you'll generally get more responses.
Remove any sensitive or extraneous info, just show us where your data is, what results you want, and where you want them.
That will help us to quickly match our responses to your needs.

    To attach a workbook:
Click Edit Post (or just start a new reply.)
    Click Go Advanced
Scroll down to Manage Attachments and click.
Now just Browse for your file, then click Upload. Simple!

Re: Drop down list with links to cells

I won't be at my computer until later but I'll explain a bit more.

Basically I have a sheet that has 36 users with their profile data in the proceeding columns, address etc. I use this profile data as the basis of the data i have for each user on the next sheet. This data sheet in a continuous list, this is where I would like to create a drop down in the frozen header that would take me to each user location on the data sheet. Eg; Select User1, jumps to cell A10, Select User2, jumps to A40... The drop down is based on the user name column on the first sheet and although the total of 36 users will never change, their names will so would want the drop down to be dynamic if you understand what I mean.

I spent all day yesterday playing with various things I found but couldn't get any of them working. My knowledge of macros and vba is very limited.
