Good afternoon everyone...
Can someone check to see if their Yahoo Stock History Data API is not working? Or did my Excel program bite the dust? My extract collects 5 years of history data for each stock, well when Yahoo is working that is. My Excel downloads just stopped yesterday and still not working today.... this happened about 3 months ago... Yahoo had a problem
Msg says " 1004... unable to open....

I found a site that checks to see if the site is up and running... AND IT SHOWS THAT ichart.finance.yahoo.com is not responding.
Ok, is there a way that...
If I get the error message from yahoo that it is not responding...
Display a pop-up indicating the issue then automatically switch to GOOGLE's finance stock history dB?
and download the history data
This problem is reoccurring more often now.

I have tried to use the file AB33 recommends and it fails for me. Instead I have found that the add=-in at http://parago.de/ works great for me.

The normal requests for specific data in the spreadsheet works fine... it is just he history data being called by this code. There is nothing wrong with the code.... even tried changing to https, still does not work. As the above dB query indicates the web server is still down for the last 3.5 days. I guess I will just have to wait until Yahoo fixes what ever it is that they broke. Just like last time. Now I am beginning to wonder if Yahoo may have changed their data request format?

We have the same issue. As far as I know, Yahoo Finance has unplugged their API historical data service for obvious reasons: they were overtaken by Bloomberg two years ago .... and they certainly have no interest in providing free data.
Too bad for all users that rely on their services.
