Question A Cell Which Brings Up a List of Options, then Brings Up Another List of Options

    Hey everyone,

As the title suggests, I am in the process of trying to create a cell which (once selected) ask the user to choose an option and given that selection, provide a list of other choices. For example, "What size of dog?" and gives the option to select small, medium, large, or don't know. Then, given the selection made (we will go with small), provides another list to choose from "Dachshund, Chihuahua, etcetera". Then, given that choice, will input the selected choice into the cell and give another selection box with choices for the next cell over dependent on the choice made in the first.

I apologize if any of this is confusing. I am new to doing this in excel (this may not even be the best or right subsection to post in) and don't have much time to casually learn the best way of going about it. While not super important, the more aesthetically pleasing it can be, the better.

I really appreciate the help in advance!

    Thanks Logit.

    This certainly helps.

The issue I am having now is when I try and copy and paste the data validation rules to an entire column, it moves the source list cells with it. Even if I copy the rule in after selecting all of the cells in the column, it still automatically shifts the "Lists" sources with each subsequent row entry in the column.

Hello ForProse and Welcome to Excel Forum.
It would help us to help you if you could upload a sample of the spreadsheet that is moving the list of source cells when the data validation rule is copied/pasted. Also it would help to know why it would be necessary to copy the data validation rule to an entire column.
To upload a sample workbook click on the GO ADVANCED button below the Quick Reply window and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need.
Let us know if you have any questions.
