    Re: Replace a word

The fonts are irrelevant - just use Find and Replace.

I want to replace a word (there are hundreds of these words) with the same word but with different fonts and color.
Does anyone know how I can insert a image of what I'm trying to do?

That is a very different question. Please amend your thread title to reflect what you are really trying to do and I will move the thread to the VBA section.

I'm 70 years old and everyone has a hard time understanding what I'm trying to do. I don't know what the VBA section is. Would you tell me how I can insert and image so you can see what I am trying to do? I want to take 167 words which are the same words and replace them with different fonts and color so I can see them better when I glance at my spreadsheet.

    Re: Replace a word

Will you please attach a SMALL sample Excel workbook (10-20 rows of data is usually enough)? Please don't attach a picture of one (no-one will want to re-type all your stuff before starting).

    1. Make sure that your sample data are truly REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired solution is also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential information is removed first!!

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells. They cause lots of problems!

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment. So, to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: Just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

The VBA section is where you will be able to get the help you require - I can't offer that help, sorry. What I can do for you is attempt to re-word your thread title to get the right attention - I will do that now. Please let me know if you think it is OK.

The reason that I asked was because you did not say if the word was on its own in the cell, or part of a longer string.

    It was a simple request...

    Good luck.

What is the word you are trying to highlight?
You can say "THANK YOU" for help received by clicking the Star symbol at the bottom left of the helper's post.

Another question. We're really loading you up.
Is there only the one word or do you have more?
You also say that you have 7,000 columns. Columns run from left to right and are marked at the top as "A", "B", "C", "D" etc. Is that what it is or do you mean rows which run up and down and are marked as 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

I'm not sure how to reply to a private message if you look at my image you will see the word breathing.

I don't to start a duplicate post but here is another problem. When I go to one cell and try to change a word with a different font and color the entire cell turns to that font and color??

I'm sorry but you have it backwards. I have 7745 Columns and there are only 256 rows.

Re: How to highlight a specific word in cells so that it stands out (different font/colour

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

Re: How to highlight a specific word in cells so that it stands out (different font/colour

Try this macro. It will increase the font size, change the color to red and make the text bold. If the changes in the text don't work for you, please be specific on the changes and I will modify the macro.
Please Login or Register to view this content.
The macro will search for the word "breathing".

I think the OP is going to need very clear guidance about setting up and running macros.
