    Need Unusual Report Format

    Hello all:
Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but here goes. I have a 150 line spreadsheet with information about a group of cars. I also have a Microsoft Windows 10 File Explorer folder which contains a series of subfolders, one for each car, with 4-8 photographs of each car in .jpg form. The first column of the spreadsheet is a four digit number, and each subfolder name contains the same number, tying the two together.

What I need to do is to create a report, with the information laid out on the first page, along with the first photograph (they are named with the ID number, an underscore, then the photo number. Then the remaining photos would be on subsequent pages (I don't mind designing for a fixed number of photos, such as the first five, or as many of the first five as exist).

I've used Excel for many years, but this is way above my pay grade. I'm wondering if there is an existing report (I'm willing to pay a reasonable price to buy it) that does this - or close enough that it can be modified to do this - or if there is in fact a simple way to do this that I have not thought of.

Thanks for any help... Regards, Mike

What you are saying is that you have 150 subfolders each with just jpg files and you have a master spreadsheet with 150 rows with other information about the car. So you want to enter a 4-digit number, find the row on the spreadsheet, Fill in a report and paste the first picture of the car to the first sheet.

What we'll need is the spreadsheet with the 150 cars (or a subset of this data) and two or three of the subdirectories (with pictures) and a sample of what you want the report to look like. Dummy up any data you don't want us to see. So the way I would prepare this for publication here is to take a copy of the spreadsheet and a copy of the report and put it in a new folder. Copy over two or three directories into this folder and compress the two files and subdirectories into one archive and post the ZIP file here.

Based on what I am seeing, I think this can be done. We'll know better when we see something concrete.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

    Hello:

Don't want you to think I'm ignoring your detailed and thoughtful reply. I've just ended up with some unexpected issues to deal with (work related) and haven't had time to send what you ask. I may not be able to assemble what you want till the weekend, if that's OK.

I'm curious. How does this work? Are you offereing services for a fee, or do you have a product that can be modified to do what I want? Before I commit you and myself to working together on this, I think it is best we both understand the financial side of this, whatever that might be.

    Cheers,
    Mike

I'm sorry, I did know that. I just wasn't sure if this and the commercial section were entirely separate. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up. I'll get the information to you over the weekend. By the way, nothing in this data is confidential except in a general way - I'm helping a friend who is not computer literate, and have gotten this far. I'm sure he wouldn't want the world at large to know whose cars these are for fear of bad deeds, but his information is nowhere in the data - could be anyone's cars. Cheers, Mike

I'm in this for "the fun of it" - a lot of people have helped me out along the way - and some problems do tweak my brain and cause me to develop what I think is some pretty neat stuff.

Getting back in a week works fine with my schedule. I have some weekend company arriving soon
