Re: allow filtering in a protected sheet

What happens when you try to filter? Do you get an error message?

What kind of filtering are we talking about? The code you linked is for autofilter. It wont apply to things like pivot tables and advanced filter.

Can you provide a sample file that does not work as expected for you?
Ways to get help: Post clear questions, explain your overall goal, supply as much background as possible, respond to questions asked of you by those trying to help and post sample(s) files.

Re: allow filtering in a protected sheet

I am having the same problem. I set up auto filters and turned on Protection with AllowFiltering set. I recorded a macro using the filtering in one column while the protection is on:

The recording works, but when I run the macro, it fails with Error 1004 - cannot run on a protected sheet. This is even though it was RECORDED on the same protected sheet.

Exactly which VBA/API commands/functions work with protection and AllowFiltering turned on and how do I use them without unprotecting the sheet?

You cannot ADD autofilters while protection is on (even when AllowFiltering is set), according to the documentation. You should only be able to change the filters, but I cannot find any way to do that either.
