    Linking data VBA

    Hello Dear Friends,

I have tried to brainstorm this for couple of days but had no success. I would much appreciate if you could help me with this task.

Is it possible to link data from K2:Y2 to specific WBS-element? The main problem is that data from tab "raw data" will be changing every day and order of WBS elements in tab "Sorted data" will be changing as well. Target is to link data entered in any cell in range of K2:Y2 to wbs element 3016000037-000100, even if data will be sorted in "raw data".

I hope I have explained clear enough but if you have questions please feel free to ask.

    Re: Linking data

    Welcome to the forum!

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

    Re: Linking data

    Dear AliGW,

Thank you for prompt reply and navigating me on this matter it is much appreciated.

I have attached spreadsheet with data from the system and I also have attached 2 screenshots which will better describe desired result.

In first screenshot you can see that manually entered data in I2:T2 is related to WBS-element 3016000037-000100. And when column "C" was sorted in descending order in tab "raw data" all entries in I2:T2 been static. And it would be great if these entries could move across to the same initial WBS-element.

    I see now - thanks.

You need to make the new data part of the table.

    Re: Linking data

I am not sure what exactly you mean.

My idea was to have macros where data from tab "Sorted data" is move across as a text to another tab and using vlookup make it work so information on row will be assigned to specific WBS-element.

OK - then you posted in the wrong section. I will move this thread to the VBA section.

Sorry - I can't help you myself with VBA.
