Auto-populate excel calendar from excel list 2018

    Hello

I am a first time poster.

I would like to populate a monthly excel calendar from a list of events and dates. I have seen that there are calendar templates provided by other posters on previous threads, however none of them are from 2018 onward.

Can anyone help with an updated template? I would like each month on a separate tab if possible and the ability to update until 2024.

    Thanks
    JW

    Hi JeteMc

Thanks for your email. I was looking for an auto-populate calendar, and this morning I found one on another thread. Unfortunately as I am a new poster it won't let me post the link here.

    Thanks
    JW

If you download the calendar and find that it doesn't meet your needs:
    1) Manually mock up an example of what you would like it to do,
    2) Write an explanation of anything that you have mocked up,
    3) Upload the mocked up version by clicking on the GO ADVANCED button below the Quick Reply window and then scrolling down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window. Please upload the actual mocked up calendar and not a picture or pasted copy.

    Hi JeteMc

It would be great if I could do that, I have an idea of exactly what I would like, please find attached. I have only mocked up until April 2019 however I would like the calendar to go right to Dec 2020 if possible. It would also be great to somehow figure out how to extend the calendar beyond this time too.

The idea would be that I can add the date and program title in tab 1 and the program title automatically goes into the correct date. If at all possible, it would be great if text formatting in tab 1 carried (i.e. text colours, fonts and bolding/italicising). I have also shown in the mock-up that in addition to auto populating, I have included a section where I can also input free text.

Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.

    Thanks
    JW

Take a look at this calendar that is the brain child of Pete_UK. It seems to have the functionality you are looking for as far as transferring information from an events sheet to a calendar page. There should little to no problem with changing the year drop down in cell Z6 to show the years 2018 - 2024 or beyond. I do realize that it only has one sheet for the calendar, however as opposed to having to look through the sheet tabs, you only have to change the drop downs in cells Z5:Z6 to display the month and year desired.
Note that this is an .xls file so you may have to save it before opening it.

Re: Auto-populate excel calendar from excel list 2018

There are several other of my calendars on the forum - use the Search box above to look for them. The one suggested above is perhaps not the best, as there are 2 fields of data displayed for each entry.

It is quite easy to create tabs for other months - just CTRL-Drag the Calendar sheet to create another sheet, then fix the monthly drop-down and rename the sheet to that month. In this case you might like to have one drop-down for the year (say in the January sheet), and to have this propagate through to the other sheets.

It would help if you showed some examples of the data that you want to display.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

    Thanks JeteMc & Pete_UK

JeteMc, thank you, unfortunately I was unable to save and open the calendar provided.

Pete_UK, thank you, I have opened quite a few of the calendars you have provided and they are great, I think it is just some really specific functionality I am looking for. I am comfortable with excel, however don't really understand the instructions provided below or which calendar they relate to.

I have reattached the example calendar I made in excel with some example data (the idea being though that I don't populate the calendar just input the data in tab 1.

Thanks again for all your help.

    Thanks
    Jes

That's exactly what my calendars (or most of them) do - you put data in any order in the Activities sheet and this automatically gets displayed on the Calendar sheet, where you can select the month and year to view on drop-downs.

Do you only envisage having a date and Program column in your data sheet?

Is every Program for a single day, or are you likely to have a date range (start and end date)?

It's getting a bit late here, but I'll pick up your replies in the morning.

    Pete
