How to restrict access - create login accounts to view a sheet and display filtered data

    Hello Forum Fellows!

I'm struggling with creating access levels in Excel. Is it possible to create many accounts with username and password and then based on the account to display only filtered data?

I have attached a sample file. The point is to create a logon mask. Then Account 1 with password 1 will open the file but see only assignees and tasks for Account 1. The rest of the data will remain invisible. Same for Account 2 etc.

Could you please suggest approaches how to achieve this in a simple way?

    Possible. But really not secure.

Excel isn't meant as secure data sharing tool and once user has the workbook open, user with enough curiosity can break almost all protections applied to the data.

Only strong protection is workbook encryption.

If it is vital to secure data between user access level... consider using some other tool, or publishing separate report for each individual.

    Hi !

See samples in thread of this forum but I do not think about any simple way as Excel was not designed for …
And do not forget any protection can be easily bypassed !

Thank you for the replies! Is there any difference if the file is uploaded in SharePoint?

Not really. If data is contained within workbook, it's quite easy to access.

From the sample workbook, it's just a list. Why not leverage SharePoint's security feature to limit access to data?
Use SharePoint list and restrict "View" for each user to their assigned item(s).
