Changing axis between different charts

Hi,

I'm looking at trying to change the axis of a line chart from dates to text values in a specified range. The way the spreadsheet is set up is that it will try and chart all the values along the date range for the x-axis but doesn't plot when that value is na(). I have noticed text values do not do the same thing so I am trying to control how far down the list of entries it goes before it displays na() results.

I have tried using the code below but I keep coming up with an error in the final line of each side of the if statement when I run it.
