Import data from Access database

Hi all,

Apologies if I go against any procedures or policies here as this is my first post.

I am trying to import several sheets of data from an Access database into several sheets in Excel. I can do this manually with no problem (going to DATA Tab, slecting the "From Access" icon and going through the steps), so I tried recording a macro while manually going through the steps. See below for code. Now if I run the code, I get the following error "Run-time error '1004': Application-defined or object-defined error.

Administrative Note:

Welcome to the forum.

We would very much like to help you with your query, however you need to include code tags around your code.

Please take a moment to add the tags. Posting code between
Please Login or Register to view this content.
tags makes your code much easier to read and copy for testing, and it also maintains VBA formatting.

Please see Forum Rule #2 about code tags and adjust accordingly. Click on Edit to open your post, then highlight your code and click the # icon at the top of your post window. More information about these and other tags can be found here

I added the tags for you this time. Please read forum rules. Thx

Hi and welcome
although we value privacy as much as anyone else, it could be important that members have a rough idea of your location. You might in the future post questions which are bound to your regional settings.
So, please update your profile to something more precise then "Over the Hills" ( country will suffice, no need to be more precise).
Thank you for helping us help you

Look at this link on how to go from Access to Excel which may be easier using VBA

Re: Import data from Access database

alansidman, sorry for my ignorance on this. I looked through your link and from what I can tell, none fit what I'm trying to do. Due to propriatary information, I can't publish the Access file but below are the maual steps I use to open the file for my needs.

1) open and save a new excel file called "C:\datafile.xlsx"
2) go to DATA tab and click on "From Access" icon.
3) select file "X:\access_data.accdb"
4) on the "Select Table" pop-up, check "Enable selection of multiple tables". Then select "Name" which selects all tables.
5) Click OK
6) At next pop-up, choose "Table and click OK.

After this, all tables will load. And that's it!
