    Coding for Bowtie 's

Hi There, is there anyone out there that perhaps has some exposure to coding for a bowtie risk analysis diagram . I have one but mine is linked to cells as indicated on the picture below - the problem is it does not link with lines (as would be generally done in a bowtie) as per picture two.

    Bowtie Diagram.JPG

    Bowtie Diagram 2.JPG

You will also note that escalation on the second picture for additional events on either side of the center TOP EVENT is added with a + or a - symbol

Any ideas out there . Must note many people do this trough a software package written for it specifically but it is definitely doable in excel VBA

Is it that you want diagram 1 to be rearranged to look like diagram 2? Upload your file and I'm sure one of us can get it done, with lines too.

Hi maniacb - yes exactly the diagram should look like the second picture. I have the file with the first diagrams coding etc. You will note on the first diagram there is actual buttons "Add pre task barrier" and beneath the the blue cell F&G "add thread" . So what happens is if you click "Add New Thread" it should basically create a new line - like in the second picture. That line should then be expandable based on how many times you click on on "Add Pre Event Barrie"

Add new thread = crates new line with thread text box
Add new Pre Event = creates new text box on the line like in picture 2 - there can be 1 - 100, the line needs to expand

I would also rather prefer the + and - like in picture 2 to add and expand instead of the command buttons

let me know if you need the file

Yes, I was able to open the file. Once I started working on an approach, I realized it will take an immense effort to complete your request, although I haven't given up yet, it will take a lot of time.

Chris1976, do you still have this file? Perhaps I can try to improve it, as I am trying to make a bowtie in Excel myself.
