Excel on a shared server, used in different regions, constant formatting issues

    Hi Guys,

I have a problem, I live in Madrid and use a master Spreadsheet which is stored here, however people in different regions have access to the database and are expected to update it. However whenever it gets opened in a different region/ country , the regional settings apply to the spreadsheet changing the date format and the figure format.

Obviously I don't want people to change their regional settings to change a couple of lines on my spreadsheet as that would create nightmares (And I doubt they would do that) and if they save those changes it affects over 4000 lines everytime it switches regions. Is there's a Macro I can write, a reference someone can point me to or something I can do so that for this master spreadsheet, the number format and date format don't change every time it gets opened in a different region?

    Thanks for your help guys!

    WB

A quick and dirty way around this would be to convert the values to a string and replace the guest decimals with the home region decimals.

That is just an example, and with a large amount of data this could get slow and sloppy. I'm sure there is probably a better way of doing it. Just a thought.

Thanks and agree, the main issue is the amounts changing to the regional settings as it changes 5,000 to 5,00

Could you use a custom number format or specify the locale?
