    how to protect xla file from being accessed?

    hello i have an xla file that gets loaded into excel as an addin. i would like to have a password to allow its use by only those who have the password or key input or soooomething...

    is this possible?

    An addin can include anything from UDFs to a whole ribbon tab's worth of buttons, so it's not really clear at what point a user would be prompted for a password.

    Well I'm never prompted... I would like when excel loads that a prompt be asked to ask password to allow access to the xla that was loaded in excel

    For starters, try adding a routine in your add-in's ThisWorkbook module:
