Do more external connections make slower data refreshment?

Hello everyone, Im new here and english is not my principal language, sorry is something is not well explained by me.

So, the question.

I have a Dashboard with lots of charts, this charts come from external connections data, but some of this charts everynow and then, loose their filters, so all the data of the chart becomes unreadable, I still dont have solution for this, but I was thinking that in order to loose the need of the filter, I could duplicate a connection, apply the filter in the connection (not the chart) and then use this new connection to create my chart without filters (since data has already been filtered).

Is this a good solution?
will this make my file heavier in terms of megabytes (right now is more than 120mb...)?
will this make the update time slower (my file lasts more than 10 minutes updating)

I think it went the wrong way.
Read this article by Mynda.
And then try to restructure your workbook.

Hi Artik!

I know those are red flags, i've read the article by Mynda, and cant see what else to do in order to get a quicker refresh time and lower file size. Im connectig to SQL in case that helps. What do you think about my previous questions?
