    Time-Triggered Cell Copy/Paste

    Hi,

OK, I'm about 90% done w/my project. There is one snag; I need to somehow auto-copy/paste (not auto-concatenate) A1 to B1 and A2 to B2 -- at 7pm every Sunday night!! Can this even be done? I can take it from there, but if this is possible, I'd really appreciate kowing how to do it.

    Thanx,
    G

    Hi,

If the file/Excel is closed you'll need to Schedule a task - see http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...ate-excel.html

If Excel is open, you can use an "OnTime" macro - see below for examples: http://www.ozgrid.com/Excel/run-macro-on-time.htm

    broro183, that's interesting/handy stuff... Only thing, I don't know the code to copy/paste (e.g., "A1 to B1 & A2 to B2" -- I was a philosophy major, lol.)

    hi Gandollf,

To find out what the code is, you can record a macro of your actions by pressing [alt + T + M + R], give the macro a name (with no spaces) & choose "this workbook" as the location, [ok], complete the copy & paste manually, stop recording by re-pressing [alt + T + M + R]. Press [alt + F11] to open the VBE (Visual Basic Editor), expand the project for your file & you'll find the code in the module folder (probably as "module1").
This use of the macro approach is a very good way to learn/create code for many/most of the actions in Excel. However, the recorder will also record extra actions as you'll see if you compare your recorded code with the below (nb sheet names may need to be changed):
