Audible alarm without even opening the workbook

Hi all,

Is the following a possibility?

I have a work book with a lists of expiry dates for contracts. When I switch on my laptop, I want an audible alarm to go off a month in advance before an expiry date is reached. So in other word I want to be notified about a near expiry date without even opening a the workbook.

Is this just a dream or can it be a possibility?

I suppose you could create a scheduled task to run that would open the workbook, but it feels like a lot of work. Why not use outlook?
