Database entries as rows and columns

I am working with the attached "form" and "database". Is it possible to have each of the "showroom"; "model#"; "description"; "item total" entries post to the same column on the next row rather than having all of the data on one row? Basically I would like the entries to look like:

    Entered/Customer Name/Payment Method/Check #/Subtotal/TaxExempt/Total/Showroom/Model #/Description/Item Total
    1.01/01/01/John Smith/Cash/9999/25.00/0.0/0.0/ 25.00/ABC/1234/Table/10.00
    Blank/Blank/Blank/Blank/Blank/Blank/Blank/CDE/9876/Lamp/15.00
    2.01/02/01/Jane Smith/Check/1234/12.00/0.0/0.0/12.00/FGH/5678/Desk/12.00

The goal is to be able to sort the entries by Showroom; Model; ETC.

    Thanks!

Hi rfiehn and welcome to the forum (looks like your second post).

Excel has this tool/function/dialog that is not on the ribbon any more. It is called the Form Tool. It will do exactly what you are trying to do with your userform. See if it is what you really want without all the programming or VBA headaches.

If you have too many fields then you can add

    Hi,

If you have all five blocks of Showroom/Model Number / Description completed are you expecting to see 5 rows on the Record sheet?

Assuming that's the case then there's a much simpler way of updating a database from a data entry form. The technique I always use is to use some hidden helper rows above the data entry form to replicate the Record sheet field headings. The helper cells are linked directly to the relevant data entry cell. Usually of course only a single row is required, much as you have now. If you name the helper row (say NewRecord) then a simple macro like

Please Login or Register to view this content.
i.e. this reduces your current 30+ line macro which contains time consuming loops to just the two lines above. All you need to do is instead of a single helper row create 5 hidden helper rows named NewRecord with each of the 30 cells linked to the Data form cell.

MarvinP, thanks for the suggestion. The problem with using the Form Tool is that I can't customize the appearance of it. I am using the "Input" sheet as a Sales Receipt. I'd like to be able to enter the information, print a customer copy and update the database in one quick easy step. Additionally, the "Input sheet calculates totals and sales tax for me. Current the attached file works, except it gets messy when one customer purchases multiple items from different showcases.
